School Time, School Time.....

So....... for those of you that are parents, you KNOW what an exciting time of year this is! My oldest has started kindergarten.....and while this alone is a amazingly wonderful thing, well, it has left me feeling a bit out of sorts.

For starters....it has been a great chance for me to spend one-on-one with my youngest......but it has also been tough seeing as their daddy is away for training, and he is missing more and more as each day goes by. For my art this is a wonderful development.....seeing as I rarely sleep while he is away......for my boys it has been tough.

I'm sure most of you have noticed that lately my blog has focused more on Scentsy than painting....I really didn't plan it that way, I have just genuinely fallen in love with the company! Plus, since my time has been limited that last several weeks getting ready for school.....well it has just been a more worthwhile venture. That being said, I have felt something missing for awhile.......art is just that release for me. Relaxing and stressful at once, there is just nothing like the feeling of working and working on something........and having the most brilliant product at the end to show for it. (Kind of like having children :)

So I DO have several projects that are in the midst & once completed YOU will be the first to see them. I started this blog & my shop with the hope that someone make take notice & like what I do........but it has done so much for me, and I am ready to get back to the basics of what it is all about. So if YOU have been interested in having something made for your home, a friends', a Wedding/Birthday/Day of the Dead.....let me know, as I consider myself now back in business :)

Country Art

So.......I am finally finished with my largest piece! This was a 18 x 20 wrapped canvas that was ordered to match her kitchen decor. I was given the curtains as a reference and told to run with it, with the only request being to NOT make the apples plaid on the interior. LOVED this when it was finished (as did she, yay!), and I'm not even much of a "apple" fan.

I think I enjoyed this one in particular as it reminded me of home. I am from the South & though my momma's kitchen was not decorated in apples, this reminded me of the art from down South. If I were to paint ANYTHING for my momma's kitchen it would have to be red/black & white like my own kitchen....but instead of fat "French Chefs" it would have to be something to relate to Coke-Cola. Don't you dare bring a Pepsi in that woman's house!

Welcome Everyone!

Hi Everybody! My name is LoLo & I make art. I however am new to making a "blog" so bear with me these first few entries as I get my internet "sea-legs" :) I am a SAHM who has been job-hunting like crazy lately when I realized something....I went from having a clear vision of the job I was looking for, to just plain looking for A job! I had given up hope of finding anything when I had this breakthrough of sorts. I had been so focused on the many closing doors, I hadn't really taken the time to see that a few small windows had opened in their place. And while art is not (and will NEVER be a 9-5 job), it was something I:



1) Loved to do,

2)Was able to do (though mostly during nap-time, and post bedtime routines),

3)Could make a little money from,

4)And was something I was good at!



In school I rememeber asking my Diddy (what I call my Dad) how you know you have found the "right" job. His response was, "When you can pay your bills and can get up and look forward to going to work each morning." Pretty simple right? Only took me 10 years to follow it.......



So here I am making my "debut", with the art I have completed. A lot of these first pictures are of things I painted for my own home. I have always have appreciation for custom artwork, just haven't always had the wallet....there for I decorated my home the only way I knew how, by hand!

I hope eventually to have many followers to my blog, so feel free to share with anyone you feel would enjoy it. While the main focus will be on my new "career" (and I use that word VERY lightly), I'm sure things of a humerous nature will come up.....I have 2 little boys, how can they NOT??
